Who is Ptah, The Egyptian God?
Ptah was the Egyptian god of arts, crafts, and trades. He is one of the most important god in the Egyptian pantheon. He and his wife Sekhmet and son Nefertum, formed the triad of gods of Memphis. He had the power to give form to everything. Ptah shaped the gods, the cities, and provinces of Egypt. He is portrayed as an elderly man in a tight cap and garment leaving his hands free. The symbol of pressure and happiness, the menat, is worn around his neck. The Apis Bull was said to be an embodiment of Ptah’s virility and sexual prowess. The Greeks equated Ptah with their god Hephaestus, and the Romans equated him with Vulcan.
