Who is predicted to win the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine?
Tomorrow morning, at 7:15a, the first group will go off the tee, at the 2009 PGA Championship, in Chaksa, Minnesota. The start of the PGA Championship marks the end of golf’s major championship season. As always, major championships always attract the best golfers, and this year is no exception. With players such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, and Jim Furyk, there is no shortage of talent in the field. Hazeltine National Golf Club is the course these golfers will face. The last time a major championship was played at Hazeltine, was in 2002, an event which Rich Beem won. That event was also the PGA Championship, but the course has hosted several other majors, including the 1991 and 1970 U.S. Opens. In addition, Hazeltine is slated to host the 2016 Ryder Cup, which should be a testament to the quality of this course. Over 100 of the World’s best golfers are competing this year, and among those is the favorite, Tiger Woods. Coming into this PGA Champion
From The Examiner: Prognosticating who will win a golf tournament — especially a major like the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine — is a bit like herding cats, and just as profitable. Despite the risks involved with declaring a winner before the first tee is stuck in the ground, Boston Golf Examiner will go out on a limb and predict that Tiger Woods will finally win a major championship in 2009. Sure, Woods missed the cut at the British Open Championship. But he’s on a serious roll now, having won his last two tournaments. Besides, he’s Tiger Woods. After winning his 70th PGA Tour event last week, the world’s greatest golfer will deem his season a failure if he walks away without his 15th major trophy. Sources: http://www.examiner.
