Who Is on the powerful HR-1 Stimulus Bill Conference Committee that re-wrote the whole Bill?!!!!
The HR-1 “Conference Committee” on the Mega-Stimulus Bill grew it from about 675 pages into almost 1,100 pages, by incorporating, re-writing, ignoring or simply deleting sections from the version passed by the House and the version passed by the Senate. This Conference Committee also seems to have made some significant changes to this bill, tossing in some of their own ideas, expanding programs and expenditures AND even creating some new programs that become part of the Stimulus Bill! All of done in sessions closed to the media and the public. Once the Bill comes out of the Conference Committee NONE of their changes (expansions, deletions or creations) can be debated or changed in any way. This is the Bill that is voted into law. I tried to find out who these “Conference Committee” members were, how they got picked and how they got the power to negate legislation passed by the House and the Senate, basically writing the law themselves!
