Who is obesity surgery for?
Obesity surgery can only be performed on people of 18 or above. They must be cases of severe obesity and have tried alternative ways of weight loss and failed. By severe obesity, we mean a BMI (Body Mass Index: the individual’s body weight divided by the square of his or her height) of 35-40 or greater than 40. People who consider obesity surgery should be patients who are not only obese, but also suffer from obesity-related complications like hypertension and Type II diabetes mellitus. Obesity surgery undertakers should also be willing to comply with post-operative treatment.
