Who is Nanci Wesling?
Nanci Wesling is the founder of featherhawk. Her background is an eclectic one: She’s worked as a singer-guitarist, switchboard operator, clerk-typist, secretary, office manager, marketing coordinator, word processor, communications coordinator, and desktop publisher. Her love of words and communication was always part of her love for performing, and is an integral part of her passion for teaching. She grew up in Hollywood, California. Beginning at age six, her grandmother taught her to sing, and she picked up the guitar at age eleven. A great fan of contemporary folk music, her most favorite performer was (and is) Buffy Sainte-Marie, followed closely by Joan Baez, Peter, Paul & Mary, and Judy Collins. Eventually, Joni Mitchell joined the list. Nanci sang with choirs and madrigal groups throughout her junior and senior high school years, including many solo performances.
