Who is Ms Aigletinger in the catcher in the rye?
Miss Aigletinger is Holden’s grade school teacher who “took us [to the museum] damn near every Saturday.” He thinks about her in Chapter 16 while he is looking for Phoebe on the Sunday morning before he goes on a date with Sally Hayes. Tightening with a skate key the skates of a little girl, Holden falls into a conversation with her, asking her if she knows Phoebe, his sister. She does, but she hasn’t seen Phoebe recently and surmises that Phoebe may be at the museum, which sends Holden thinking about Miss Aigletinger and her taking him to the museum as a boy.
