There is asbestos all around us including small fibers of it in the air. While there still is some risk today, the greater part of the risk came from prior to 1989. People who worked in construction and demolitions were at most risk. The risks are still there today but much less then it was years ago. The problem is that people are still turning up with cancer from being exposed years ago.
