Mirza Asad Ullah Khan Ghalib was born in 1797 and lived till 1869. He was the court poet in the royal court of the last Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar. Mirza Ghalib’s poetic works are written both in Persian and Urdu but he is most famous for his collection of 2,000 Urdu couplets that he selected himself. The main themes of his poetry focus on his fluctuating personal fortunes, the stagnation of the Indian society and the taking over of the British of his beloved Country and especially his city Delhi especially during the revolt of 1857. Mirza Asad Ullah Khan `Ghalib’, who used Ghalib as his Poetry name, is said to be the last classical poet and the first modern poet of the Indian sub continent. Mirza Asad Ullah Khan Ghalib emerged as symbol of the syncretism of the culture and the ethos of India. Even though Ghalib himself held his Persian poetry in great regard, it was his Urdu poetry which he is most known for today. Mirza Ghalib’s Urdu poetry left an indelible mark on the heart
