Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a baptist minister and one of the most prominent leaders of the civil rights movement in the 1950’s and 60’s. He was a highly educated man who was known for his rich speaking voice best used for delivering some of the most memorable speeches. Dr. King fought for full equality for minorities and promoted civil disobedience as a way to achieve this. Violence was never a solution for him, thus he opted for peaceful sit-ins, marches and demonstrations to gather support for the cause. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assasinated on April 4, 1968.
