Who is Mao zdong?
Mao was the leader of the Communist Chinese starting in the 1930’s and beyond. He is most famous for leading the Communist forces during their famous Long March and to eventual victory over the Nationalist forces after WWII, thus establishing a Communist regime on the Chinese mainland. He also wrote the “Little Red book,” bible of radical communism during the 60’s and 70’s and initiated the Great Leap Forward. a failed attempt to convert traditional Chinese society into an ideally Communist one. He died knowing that he had risen from peasent roots, but seeing Communist China recognized by the US and accepted as a legitimate world power.
