Who is Luchresi in the story the Cask of Amontillado?
he is Montresor’s friend who also is knowledgeable about wines. Montresor uses Luchresi as a foil to make Fortunato insist that he, Fortunato, be the one to go down into the catacombs to test the wine. Montresor plays to Fortunato’s vanity in being a better judge of wine than Luchresi in order to get Fortunato to insist on going down into the catacombs to his own death.
