Who Is Lemaan Achai?
Answer Lema’an Achai www.lemaanachai.org is a fully registered & accredited charity, which has successfully operated in Beit Shemesh for the past seven years. Chiefly addressing problems associated with Poverty, Lema’an Achai’s small professional staff leverage the resources of over 400 volunteers, operating some 25 innovative community-based programs. Lema’an Achai has met the exacting requirements of Clause 46 of the Israeli Tax Code (only 11% of Israeli charities are accredited); it operates are under the halachik supervision of Rav Chaim Soloveichik. US Friends of Lema’an Achai is a 501 (c) 3 accredited sister charity in the US. Lema’an Achai was awarded the Beit Shemesh Prize for 2003/4; eminent supporters of Lema’an Achai include Dr Rabbi Abraham Twerski (psychiatrist, author), Prof Robert Aumann (2005 Nobel Prize Winner); Natan Sharansky (statesman); and Mr Danny Vaknin (Mayor of Beit Shemesh).
