Who is Karl Marx? Have you heard of his ideas before?

Karl Marx was the German intellectual who wrote the Communist Manifesto- which laid out the economic problems of the world and his plan to fix them.(1848) His basic premise is that no one should own anything- that all private property should be abolished, and all things be owned in common- menaing my all. His ideas have some connection to 2 other great thinkers- Plato wrote in his Republic that people should live in communes- sharing all things. He even said that children should be raised communally, so no one was too attached to their own children. He lived in the 300s BC. Sir Thomas More wrote a book in the mid 1500s called Utopia- and it said that people should live in communities where they share everything and move often, so as not to get too attached.
