Who is in charge of the U.S. Attorneys Office?
The office is headed by the United States Attorney for the district, who is appointed to a four-year term by the President of the United States, upon advise and consent of the U.S. Senate. The U.S. Attorney reports to the U.S. Attorney General, who is a member of the President’s cabinet. Todd P. Graves, is the current U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, having been nominated by President George W. Bush on July 30, 2001. Graves took his oath of office on an interim appointment as U.S. Attorney by the U.S. District Court on September 17, 2001, and his presidential appointment was formally confirmed by the United States Senate on October 11, 2001.
