Who is in charge of fraternities and sororities?
To a large degree, the undergraduate members of each fraternity and sorority are responsible for most aspects of their group experience. Greek organizations are essentially self-governing communities with many opportunities for students to serve in chapter leadership. Alumni members serve as chapter advisors to assist students. Fraternities and sororities also receive assistance from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs in the areas of leadership, recruitment, house management, discipline, standards, health and safety issues, hazing education, social policy issues, educational programs, chapter development, etc. The Office of Residential Services also provides support for the chapters housing issues.
