Who is Imam Husayn?
Imam Husayn (as) was born on the 3rd of Shaaban 4 Hijrah in Medina. When the news of his birth reached the Holy Prophet (saw), Prophet Muhammad (saw) came to the house of Imam Ali (as) and Sayyidah Fatimah Al-Zahra (as) where he recited the adhan and iqamah to the ears of the newborn child. And on the 7th day of his birth, he was named Al-Husayn which means the junior of Al-Hasan, his elder brother. When the angel Gabriel descended from the heavens to congratulate the Holy Prophet Muhammad on behalf of Allah (swt) and himself and to inform him that the newborn child would be martyred by his own ummah in a hot desert called Karbala in bloodshed and thirst, the Holy Prophet (saw) wept profusely and said, By Allah, those who kill Al-Husayn will never get my intercession on the Day of Judgment!
