Guido Fawkes was one of the conspiritors of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605. This was led by Robet Catesby in support of Catholicism, the Roman Catholic church. The new King of Britain was James I, a Protestant Scot.The plot was unsuccessful, and they were caught in the act of laying the barrels of gunpowder in the cellers of the Houses of Parliament. They were put to death in the most gruesome way: hanged, drawn & quartered.
