Who is gabriel garcia marquez?
Gabriel Jose Garcia Marquez won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982. Born March 6, 1928, in northern Colombia, Garcia Marquez was raised by his grandparents, a common practice at the time. He is considered by most to be one of the most important authors of the 20th century. His novel One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967) and Love in the Time of Cholera (1985) won him critical acclaim. In 1999, he was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer, which went into remission after treatment in Los Angeles. He continues to travel between the United States and Colombia and is working on a new love story, which, as of this writing, does not have a name.
