WHO IS ESTHER?
In short, Esther was a Jewish woman whose parent’s had died. She was raised by her older cousin Mordechai. Across the Persian Empire, officials are appointed to identify beautiful candidates to succeed Vashti as queen. A Jewish girl, Esther, the cousin of Mordechai, was brought to the capital of Persia as one of the candidates. Mordechai tells Esther to conceal her identity so that the King does not know she is a Jew. The King did not know that Esther was in fact Jewish until later on. Esther is chosen to be the Queen.
