Under Article 105a(1) EPC 2000, a European patent may be revoked or limited by an amendment of the claims at the request of the proprietor. Since the European patent after grant becomes a bundle of national patents, which can have different proprietors, each of these (national) patentees is entitled to request limitation or revocation. Since proprietorship is a condition of entitlement to make such a request, Rule 92(2)(a) provides that the request must contain an indication of the contracting states for which the requester is the proprietor of the patent.
