Who is eligible to vote?
British, Irish, Hong Kong, European Union and qualifying Commonwealth citizens who are over 18 and resident in the UK. Member countries of the European Union are Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and UK. Citizens of these European Union countries are not eligible to vote at UK Parliamentary elections expect citizens of the UK and Ireland (who have full voting rights) and Cyprus and Malta who have full voting rights by virtue of these countries being part of the Commonwealth. On the 1st January 2007 Bulgaria and Romania joined the European union.
You must be 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen to vote in California. (17 year olds may register to vote if they will be 18 by Election Day.) Legal residents of California who are not U.S. citizens, and illegal California residents are not eligible to register or vote. Convicted felons currently serving a prison term or on parole are not eligible to register or vote. A California driver’s license is not required in order to vote.
Any United States citizen may vote, provided that he or she is registered to vote and is a resident of the Louisiana Parish in which the person is registered to vote, is at least 17 years old but must be 18 years old prior to next election to vote, is not a convicted felon, and has not been declared mentally incompetent by a court of law.
