Who is eligible to be selected as a Candidate for AHEPAcademy?
Each AHEPA Family Chapter will be allowed to nominate at least one high school junior from its local Greek-American community to participate in the AHEPAcademy. A high school junior is defined as a student in his or her second to last year of high school (secondary school). For a student to be eligible to apply to AHEPAcademy, he or she must be of Hellenic descent and have a parent or grandparent as a member of the sponsoring AHEPA Chapter or its corresponding Daughters of Penelope Chapter, or they themselves must be a member of the junior orders of AHEPA (Sons of Pericles or Maids of Athena.). An applicant’s parent or grandparent can join AHEPA or the Daughters of Penelope (if applicable) at the same time as the student submits his or her AHEPAcademy application. Finally the Applicant must have a cumulative minimum 3.5/4.0 unweighted grade point average or its equivalent or is in the top 10% of his or her high school class.
