Membership in the AMA is open to: • Physicians who possess the United States degree of doctor of medicine (MD) or doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO), or a recognized international equivalent. • Resident physicians who are attending an accredited residency or fellowship program in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam or the Virgin Islands. • Medical students enrolled in educational programs provided by a college of medicine or osteopathic medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association leading to the MD or DO degree. This includes those students who are on approved sabbatical, provided that the student will be in good standing upon returning from the sabbatical. • If you are a first-year medical student, please enroll through your AMA-MSS chapter membership liaison.
