Who is eligible to access the Shared Lives Service?
The Shared Lives Scheme offers a generic service making placements for adults(aged over 18) with learning disabilities; mental health problems; physical disabilities; older persons; acquired brain injury and sensory impairment. We have providers who care for service users within the above categories and who need support in their daily lives. Moving into a family home can provide more stability and one-to-one contact that an individual may need to enable more confidence, ability and independence in daily life. This is a flexible service where a wide range of care and support needs can be met in a non-threatening and stable environment. Care providers will have a variety of skills, experience and knowledge and may be able to support service users with very complex or demanding needs given adequate support by the care manager, Shared Lives Scheme and other resources that the service user can access.
