Who is eligible for Section 8, MRVP, and AHVP vouchers?
To be eligible for Section 8, MRVP, and AHVP vouchers: • your household must have limited income (income limits are listed in the Financial Eligibility section) • at least one member of your household must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen • you must have good references, showing you paid your rent on time, took care of your apartment, and did not disturb other tenants in the past. • For AHVP, you must be under the age of 60 and disabled, and you must meet the eligibility requirements for state public housing for the elderly/disabled. You are not eligible if: • you have a recent history of illegal drug use, alcohol abuse, or violent criminal behavior • you committed fraud in connection with a housing assistance program in the past (for example, if you lied on an application) • or the apartment you plan to rent is owned by a family member or other close relative.
