Who is eligible for AmeriCorps service?

To be eligible to enroll in AmeriCorps, an individual must: (1) Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. national or a lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. (2) Be at least 17 years old (3) Have a high school diploma or GED or agree to obtain one while serving. (Please note that some of the SWLAHEC AmeriCorps Service Descriptions require some college or a college degree.) The SWLAHEC AmeriCorps program does not discriminate against any member, program staff, or service recipient on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, political affiliation, or disability. Members are usually selected by individual site partners.
