“Acquired brain disorder” is defined in New Hampshire as: “A disruption in brain functioning that: • Is not congenital or caused by birth trauma; • Presents a severe and life-long disabling condition which significantly impairs a person’s ability to function in society; • Occurs prior to age 60; and • Is attributable to one or more of the following reasons: • External trauma to the brain as a result of: • A motor vehicle incident; • A fall; • An assault; or • Another related traumatic incident or occurrence; • Anoxic or hypoxic injury to the brain such as from: • Cardiopulmonary arrest; • Carbon monoxide poisoning; • Airway obstruction; • Hemorrhage; or • Near drowning; • Infectious diseases such as encephalitis and meningitis; • Brain tumor; • Intracranial surgery; • Cerebrovascular disruption such as a stroke; • Toxic exposure; and • Other neurological disorders such as Huntington’s disease or multiple sclerosis which predominantly affect the central nervous system; and • Is manifest
