Education Realty Trust (EDR) is a publicly-traded Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) that specializes in collegiate housing for universities and surrounding communities. EDR is a partner with master developer LeylandAlliance LLC to develop two phases of Storrs Center, a mixed-use town center. EDR will be the owner operator of the residential apartments. LeylandAlliance will own and operate the first floor retail. EDR and LeylandAlliance have signed a development agreement. Additionally, the partners executed an agreement with BL Companies, a national architectural and design firm located in Meriden, CT to work on the architecture for Phases 1A and 1B. The partners will work with the Town of Mansfield to coordinate development of the parking garage and intermodal center and other infrastructure improvements.
