Who is Denise, the roommate that Phoebe mentioned in episode 603 & 605?

I think Phoebe made her up in episode 603 when Rachel asked whether she could move in with Phoebe. However, I’ll acknowledge that doesn’t quite fit with Phoebe’s reactions during the Denise-conversation in episode 605. But one way or the other, there is no Denise. Friends supervising producer Todd Stevens was quoted in WB’s Friends Newsletter as saying, “It was a joke. There is no Denise. That is all the information that I have. Thanks for asking.
