Who is david archuleta?
David Archuleta was the runner-up of American Idol 2008. He’s a Hispanic American Mormon teen, born in Florida and lives in Utah. He started singing at 6, sang on Jenny Jones at age 10, won Star Search Junior Vocalist at age 12 then got a paralyzed vocal cord. He relearned to sing by studying with a Seth Riggs method vocal trainer (helpful to people with vocal cord problems because it it less stressful on the cords though it requires a lot of voice control). He auditioned for Idol at 16 and made it to Hollywood then remained a fairly consistent #1 or #2 contender through the show. The final battle was David Archuleta vs grunge rocker David Cook. Simon gave all 3 rounds (and a knockout) to Archuleta but Cook won in the 4 hours of voting. Both got record contracts and the post Idol TV interview and performance treatment.
