Who is AWED and what does AWED do?
Founded in 1976, the not-for-profit American Woman’s Economic Development Corporation (“AWED”) is the first organization of its kind in the nation created specifically to help women either start or grow their own businesses. AWED has been meeting this objective for the past twenty-five years through it curriculum on entrepreneurship and programs designed to address the instructional and counseling needs of women at various stages of business development. AWED staff and volunteer faculty are available to meet with women business owners to help them determine what support they need in starting and growing their business and also to provide expert advice on a broad range of business issues, both common to all entrepreneurial efforts and specific to individual business owner situations.
