Who is at risk for serious infection or complications of RSV?
While almost all babies are infected with RSV during the first 2 years of life, some babies face a higher risk of severe infection and of complications that can require hospitalization. Babies who were born prematurely, those who were born with heart or lung problems, and babies whose immune systems are compromised are all considered to be at risk for serious complications.
