Engaging in certain behaviors increases your chances of coming in contact with body fluids infected with hepatitis B. You may be at risk for hepatitis B if you: Have a job that exposes you to human blood (health care workers) Share a household with someone who has chronic hepatitis infection Are an injecting drug user or share needles to inject drugs Have sex with a person infected with hepatitis B virus Have sex with more than one partner during a six-month period Individuals with a history of sexually transmitted disease are at risk Are a homosexual or bisexual male Were born in Asia, Africa, the Amazon Basin in South America, the Pacific Islands, Eastern Europe, or the Middle East Are an adopted child from Asia, Africa, the Amazon Basin in South America, the Pacific Islands, Eastern Europe, or the Middle East Are an Alaskan native Are a patient or worker in an institutio
