Who is an eligible dependent for my UPMC benefits?
1. Who can I include on my medical, dental, or supplemental life insurance benefits? Only you and your eligible dependents may participate in UPMC benefits coverage. Eligible dependents include your legally married spouse, certified domestic partner, or your children or children of your domestic partner. Dependent children are defined as unmarried children, stepchildren, legally adopted children, a child placed with you for adoption, or a child for whom you are a legal guardian. The child must be primarily dependent on you for support and reside in your household. Children between the ages of 19 and 25 who are full-time students are eligible for coverage. Otherwise, once your dependent child turns 19, he or she must be removed from your coverage.
