Crisis pregnancies happen to women of all ages, ethnicities, social and economic backgrounds, and when they occur the effect can be profound. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, here are several important characteristics of women who experience unplanned pregnancy: • Unintended pregnancy accounts for nearly half of pregnancies in the United States annually. • Over half of abortions which occur each year are performed on women in their 20s, and women aged 20-24 are most likely to have an abortion. • The reasons cited most frequently in an abortion choice involve constraints such as responsibilities to others and resource limitations, such as financial difficulties and lack of partner support.
