Anyone who has a telephone number with a 918 area code is affected, as well as anyone that receives a telephone number from the 539 area code in the future. The 918 area code generally covers the eastern portion of the state and serves communities such as Bartlesville, Clayton, Cushing, Fairfax, McAlester, Miami, Muskogee, Okemah, Poteau, Sallisaw, Tahlequah and Tulsa.
