WHO IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE?
There are a variety of situations where you may be considered a temporary employee under the discrimination laws. Here are some examples: • You are considered a temporary employee if you are employed by a temporary employment agency and are placed in a temporary job at another companys work site. Your work may be overseen by either a supervisor at the job site or by a supervisor from the temporary agency. This often occurs when a firm contracts out services to another company. • You may also be a temporary employee, as opposed to an independent contractor, and protected from discrimination if: • The agency or the company where you work tells you when, where and how to do your job. • Your work does not involve a high level of skill or expertise. • You work at the agency or the companys workplace. • The company or agency supplies the tools, materials or equipment. • You are not working in your own business. • You are paid by the hour, week or month instead of a set amount for completing
