Who is a member of Black Sabbath?
On a level, I can see where Ozzy is coming from. The original Sabbath was the four people and they did in unison make the band the big name it was. I can sing the praises all day long about the Dio era of Sabbath but would they have been as big without the foundation of the band already in place? Maybe, maybe not. Further, I can praise most of the Marin era of the band but there is no way the band would have had the leg up it had without the Ozzy and Dio era to build the band up. So Ozzy’s point has merit. On the flip side, Dio can also come along and say that Black Sabbath was floundering for its last couple of years and he helped revitalize it and make new fans in the golden age of the 80’s. He would have a valid point to a share as well. Tony Martin can also come along and point out that he had the second longest run of all the singers, and by sheer tenure has a claim to the Sabbath name.
