Who is a Dietetic Technician?
Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs) are trained in food and nutrition and are an integral part of healthcare and foodservice management teams. DTRs work independently or in collaboration with Registered Dietitians in a variety of employment settings, including health care, business and industry, community, public health, foodservice and research. DT Internship Information The Dietetic Technician AAS degree requires 450 hours of practical experience (internship). Prior to beginning the internship experience, students are required to register in NTR157 Foundations of Dietetic Internships. NTR157 is a one-credit course offered online throughout the year. This class provides the foundation required to successfully complete a dietetic internship by identifying rotation facilities and Registered Dietitian Facilitator(s). The course emphasizes the legal and ethical aspects specific to internships for nutrition professionals. Required Credits: 65 credits (2009-2010) 28 didactic coursework
