Who is a better BB player: A-Rod or Derek Jeter?
Good question. You get a star from me. My answer is Derek Jeter. If you go just by the numbers A-Rod is gonna come out on top. More power, RBIs, etc. Since he bats farther down in the lineup those numbers are going to favor him. If you look at their at–bats and ask “Who has the greater number of beneficial at-bats for our team?” I think you’ll find that Jeter helps more often and, sometimes, in less glamorous ways than A-Rod. Defensively, this is a very tough call. SS is a more important position than 3B but Alex deserves credit for making a successful move to third. Its a squeaker but i’ll give the slight edge to A-Rod. The intangibles ALL go to Jeter. He is the unquestioned leader on a team loaded with talent. He has reached the summit of the sport more than once yet hungers to get there again. Sure, A-Rod wants a ring too but I don’t see him “willing to do whatever it takes” to get there. I DO see that in DJ though. He has reached a level A-Rod hopes to attain someday. Jeter is a P
