Who invented wire?

Wire has been around since before 2890BC so I dont believe there is any evidence as to who actually invented it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wire If you are talking about barbed wire, then “The first patent in the United States for barbed wire was issued in 1867 to Lucien B. Smith of Kent, Ohio, who is regarded as the inventor. Joseph F. Glidden of DeKalb, Illinois, received a patent for the modern invention in 1874 after he made his own modifications to previous versions.” Joseph Glidden’s version of barbed wire is the one still in use today.
