Who invented the cabbage patch kids?
I know for a fact that Xavier took the idea from a mountain woman who produced hand sewn dolls and marketed them through Unicoi Park gift store where Xavier and Paula another shop worker reinvented and stole the lady’s idea. Paula hand sewed the dolls and worked late hours producing the first dolls for Xavier. The belly button and signature was the main change and of course the hospital. I know this because a gentleman named William Kennedy was living with Paula when this started. She would sew these until 2 or 3 in the morning. Bill would laugh at her asking why she was wasting her time with those ugly dolls. She simply would tell him she would make millions with this idea. She traveled in a rented truck with Xavier with a truck load and they sold so quickly that they were suspected of drug dealing. The doll was a sensation in the early 80’s.
