Who invented the Balanced Scorecard Concept?
Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton first wrote about Balanced Scorecards in a 1992 Harvard Business Review article. They have since published extensively, both in trade journals and books. Their book, The Balanced Scorecard, is frequently reviewed in Accounting and Management periodicals. In fact, most of the articles available in the Quinnipiac Library are simply reviews of this book. Robert Kaplan writes about the concept: “We originally developed the Balanced Scorecard to improve performance measurement systems.
