Who invented red band gumboots?
My grandad, Alfred Prentice, was the Head Designer at Skellerup when the red band gumboot was designed in 1958. He said that he was part of a team that developed the red band gumboot and he reckoned it was only “half a day’s” work. He was also responsible for designing the Buller boot which is still sold by Skellerup today. He is 89 years old and lives in Hamilton.
