Who invented Passwords for computing systems and when?

Thanks Brian. I know that answer. I am talking about their use in computing systems. I am also aware that the wikipedia post suggested they were first used in Time Sharing System (one of the early mainframe systems) at MIT. But who suggested their use in that system or any system (computing) that predated that?
