Since then, many companies have made or sold devices like the vibrating back massage chair or a hydraulically enhanced flight simulator. But these devices are not the focus of this FAQ. In 1994 AuraSound (a former defense contractor) introduced the Bass Shaker and marketed it to the automotive mobile audio industry. A lot of people bought Bass Shakers for their cars. The reactions were mixed. Some thought it was cool, others criticized the Shakers problems for lack of performance. The Bass Shaker was not a huge commercial success. So it is fair to say, in regards to this FAQ, that Aura created and commercialized the first tactile transducer.
