Who invented electric bulb?
The inventor Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. The invention took several months because Edison could not find an appropriate filament that when electricity was run through it would produce light. He tried thousands of different filaments, but did not succeed until he used carbonized cotton thread. Later he was asked if it was hard finding the one way to make a light bulb, but Edison replied “No, I found a thousand different ways not to make a light bulb.” Carbonized cotton thread is a misleading term. It is simply a piece of cotton thread that is entirely burnt but still holds it’s shape as a piece of thread. This carbonized thread, attached to an insulating stopper, is placed inside of a glass bulb. A vacuum is pulled on the glass bulb so that all the air, oxygen especially, is removed. The stopper is placed in the glass bulb so that the vacuum is preserved. Then electric current, in the case of Edison direct current, is run through the filament of carbonized thread. This produc
