Who informed & influenced Councils decision making on the regulation of medical laboratory assistants and medical laboratory technicians?
In 2009, the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)Council made the regulation of medical laboratory assistants and medical laboratory technicians one of its strategic priorities, based largely on member feedback. In the 2008 Member Survey, 950 medical laboratory technologists (MLTs) responded to the two questions related to medical laboratory assistants and medical laboratory technicians. Additionally, there were 190 comments submitted by MLTs. Overall, MLTs were very supportive of regulation. In addition to feedback received by Council and CMLTO staff members during formal linkage sessions, the CMLTO continues to receive less formal feedback from MLTs on a regular basis. This includes feedback via informal discussions with MLTs, e-mails and phone calls.
