Who hit the most home runs in the history of all baseball?
That’s tough to research, but Sadaharu Oh hit 868 home runs for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan from 1959-1980. The Giants gave Hideki Matsui the number 55 in hopes that he would tie, but not break, Oh’s record 55 home runs. He never did before coming to the US. Oh now manages the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in Japan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadaharu_Oh If you go back to high school and college, Bonds, Aaron or Ruth may have more, that’s hard to say. I’m sure Bonds has more than 868, but I don’t know how many Oh hit before reaching the Japan League. EDIT: I almost forgot about something I heard recently: According to Bill Jenkinson, Babe Ruth hit well over 1000 career home runs in professional calliber games, if you include the exhibition “barn storming” games that many players participated in at the time. He claims that Ruth’s record for a single season, if you include barn storming, is 104 home runs in a season. Again,
