Who has Wheel Shimmy with Aftermarket Wheels and Tires?
This could be an issue of both aftermarket wheels, and bigger tires. First of all with an aftermarket wheel, especially a cast wheel, you don’t know that you are really getting a high quality product with no voids in the casting or other defects. Forged wheels that are then machined should be less problematic in this regard as quality control is usually much higher, and the forging process is less likely to produce a product with voids in the metal. Then again cost is much higher too. The stock cast wheels are from a top of the heap foundry/wheel maker like BBS etc, and should be of very good quality and uniformity. The cast bling wheels that so many members put on their trucks….. well not so much. They seem more proud of the shape of their pouring molds than of the process of making their wheels, the actual quality of the wheels, or their strength/integrity.
